When
anyone from Punjab asks “Which PIND are you
from”, Nothing burns an old timers ears more
than when you don’t have a clue and reply
“umm Millwoods”.
Many
things are revealed about us, our family and our
ancestors from our roots back home in Punjab. It’s
not the end of the world if you don’t know
where your house is in your village (because the
last time you went there you were probably 8 years
old). But at least know the name and the district
it falls under. Here are all the districts of Punjab
and your chance to learn about where you’re
parents grew up. It might even give you some insight
into why they are the way they are. It’s like
the difference between you and you’re cousins
in Toronto or Vancouver. As subtle as it may be,
you still attribute your differences to geography.
So go ahead, ask your mom where she’s from
and where your dad’s from and start the research.
It doesn’t matter how much education you have,
knowledge of the basics about your own history will
earn you admiration and respect for keeping your
heritage alive.
